چکیده

A novel framework is presented that provides a formal operational description for characterising social decision making. It contributes explicit reasoning about the potential benefits of the individual agent, particular subgroups of agents or the overall system. This framework enables multi-farious social interaction attitudes to be identified and defined; ranging from the purely self-interested to the purely altruistic.

Knowledge Representation for Animal Reasoning

Many experiments and observations indicate that such cognitive abilities as understanding and reasoning may be assigned also to (higher) animals. We are aiming at a construction of a semantic framework appropriate for an elaboration of the intuitive idea about animal understanding and reasoning, or more generally: about understanding and reasoning of agents with a pre-language behaviour. Meanin...

Agent Planning, Negotiation and Control of Operation

This paper presents a framework that integrates three aspects of agency: planning, for proactive behaviour, negotiation, for social behaviour and resource achievement, and control of operation, for reconciling rationality with reactivity. Agents are designed and programmed in a computational logic-based language where these aspects are accommodated in a declarative and modular way. We show how ...

Formal Specification of Reflective Agents

Many autonomous agents exhibit reflective behaviour: they not only reason about their own behaviour, but also about other agents' behaviour. To model and formally specify such behaviour requires a framework which provides constructs designed for this purpose. DESIRE (framework for DEsign and Specification of Interacting REasoning components; cf. [LPT92], [BTWW94]), a compositional framework for...

Formal Interpretation of a Multi-Agent Society As a Single Agent

In this paper the question is addressed to what extent the collective processes in a multi-agent society can be interpreted as single agent processes. This question is answered by formal analysis and simulation. It is shown for an example process how it can be conceptualised, formalised and simulated in two different manners: from a single agent (or cognitive) and from a multi-agent (or social)...

Biologically Inspired Agents: A Framework for Formal Modelling and Simulation of Agents with Elementary Spatial Attributes

Applications of biological or biologically inspired multi-agent systems often assume a certain level of reliability and robustness, which is not always easy to be achieved. Formal modelling and verification of these systems may present many interesting challenges. For instance, formal verification may be cumbersome or even impossible to be applied on models with increased complexity. On the oth...
